SHELL SHOCK VICTIM?

Hugh Simms served 21 years in 3rd Battalion South Lancashire Regiment, retiring in 1909. Usual soldierly ailment/diseases but ‘Gon’ with treatment. Remnants of burned WW1 service record reveals he reenlisted 1915 but possible court martial resulted in discharge. Same yearr, he enlisted in 8th Suffolks, went to France.. Then transferred to Royal Defence Corps and discharged as unfit to serve. Died in Ministry of Pensions Hospital, Liverpool – probably from the effects of shell shock. St James, Daisy Hill:
