WW1 AIR RAID VICTIM
Senior Reserve Attendant John Wilfred Oakes, Royal Naval Auxiliary Sick Berth Reserve was severely wounded in the 1917 German air raid on HMS Pembroke, Chatham. He died Chatham Hospital April 18, 1918 and is buried in Hindley Cemetery, Greater Manchester:
