LIVERPOOL GRAVESTONE REMEMBERS THE CAPTAIN OF A SHIP THAT VANISHED

Under the command of Wilfred Gilberry, the Andacollo weighed anchor and departed from Callao, Peru. It was bound for Valparaiso, Chile, en route home to Liverpool. Gilberry, his crew and the Andacollo simply vanished. No trace was ever found. This headstone is one of many lining the edges of St James’ Cemetery, Liverpool.
