Tom Boswell's Angel

Warrington Cemetery is very large and packed full of history. In the newer section, Tom Boswell's grave is notable because a large marble Angel towers over it. According to a cemetery leaflet, the tomb is lined with white Morecambe brick and the coffins were placed inside the mausoleum. It sounds like a vault . . . I have yet to establish any information on Tom Boswell.

Standing Angel points to Heaven

When visiting Brandwood End Cemetery in Birmingham for the first time, I was very impressed by the angel that stands under an impressive cover held up by black columns. Some discolouring through age leaves her with a black finger pointing upwards while her other hand rests on an anchor. I couldn't read the name of the person this memorial commemorates.

Beautiful Angel

I saw this representation of an Angel on a gravestone in Darwen, Lancashire. I think it one of the most beautiful I have ever seen. The stonemason was, most obviously, very, very talented: Its obvious beauty masks the years of heartbreak endured by the Daltry family. The grave is that of Martha Ann Daltry who died in 1870 aged 16 years. The stone also records the early demise of Martha's siblings: Chrisy - aged 1 year 7 months, Maria - aged 7 months and James - aged 13 months. 

  

 

Angel with a Harp

How often do you see an Angel playing a celestial harp? Not often, I am guessing. This headstone is in the Arnos Vale cemetery in Bristol, England.
