Annes Cemetery, Gosport.

George Alfred Tribe, RNR drowned off Cape Horn on his 20th birthday - 20 June 1891. Today, his grave is in danger of being drowned by this bush. I am really surprised it has not been cleared!

Agressive Dove!

I noticed this Dove in Paulton New Cemetery in Lancashire. It looks rather aggressive. Has anyone any thoughts as to why it should be attacking the anchor symbol quite?

All in a Row?

It must be an optical illusion. When you first look at the headstones in your local graveyard, you admire the way they have been carefully laid out in rows. Then, when you look at the photographs, you realise they are laid out all higgledy piggledy!

Graveside Bears

I have a certain fascination with bears left at the graveside of those who died young. I find them quite moving and am always intrigued by the way nature reclaims them. In one of my two local churchyards, I recently came across two examples on the grave of a 12-day-old.  I didn't notice at the time, but the second bear is holding another in its arms - how sad!
