Angel with Butterfly Wings

One of the reasons for going to Nottingham's Rock Cemetery was to photograph the angel in the sandstone quarry part of the cemetery. It is quite special because the Angel has butterfly wings. It marks the grave of Laura Zella Davenport who died in 1887 aged 48 years and her husband, Stephen who died in 1889 age 52.

This is indeed special - sort of Peter-Pan-ish (James Barrie). And I love the sandstone rock background; superb for digital art.

There's a depiction of St Michael with butterfly wings in the mediaeval stained glass windows of Fairford Church, Gloucestershire.
