A Ballerina Watches Over Them

This beautiful memorial can be found in Poulton New Cemetery in Lancashire. It marks the last resting place of Moyna Urquhart who died far to early and of her husband Jack who joined her there some 38 years later. I wonder if the ballerina is a likeness of their daughter Melody?

Wondering what Moyna died of, too young indeed, and did she have time to know her daughter ? One can only hope so.

And what is the gold colored metal piece at the bottom of the marker ? Don't recall ever seeing anything like it...

What an interesting project to take pictures in cemeteries! I love walking in old cemeteries--there is so much history, so many stories there.

Welcome to the Graveyard Detective

An illustrated look at the World of Graveyards and Cemeteries. There are many Stories behind the Stones that Stand in them. Who knows what we might find?
