Pte Joseph Sharple was one of the original Chorley Pals who were placed in the famous Accrington Pals. He survived the deadly 1st Day of the Somme. Died of influenza & double pneumonia.Interestingly, death cert records him as farm labourer, not serving soldier. St James, Brindle:
