George Alfred Tribe, RNR drowned off Cape Horn on his 20th birthday - 20 June 1891. Today, his grave is in danger of being drowned by this bush. I am really surprised it has not been cleared!
What a wonderful image. Yet somehow the insidious ivy tells its own story; keep it at bay, for it tells its own tale of 'antiquity' and time, and is more pertinent than a scrupulously scrubbed gravestone.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful yet sad.
ReplyDeleteInteresting how it says "Who was drowned" and not "Who drowned"...
ReplyDeleteCan't help but wonder if there was foul play involved ?
I like it just as is, with the hungry growth of bushes around it...
