Hi Laurie, That's a really touching documentary, I've often wondered where all the white marble came from for the thousands and thousands of US military graves. Now I'm wondering if this quarry in Vermont (which must be an awesome place to visit) is also the source for the white marble stones in the US military cemeteries in Europe from WWI and WWII. Will have to do some digging to try to find out. Near Verdun, outside the village of Romagne sous Montfaucon, there is a US cemetery from WWI with about 15000 white stones like these. I thought the marble must have come from somewhere in Europe, but now I'm wondering if it was quarried and cut, then engraved in Vermont, and shipped across the ocean ? Would have been a huge sea freight bill, not to mention the transport by road to the cemetery. Just the logistics of matching up the right stone with the right grave must have been daunting...
