Keeping hold of a young child's Hand
I've posted before of the graveyard symbolism of putting a image of clasped hands on a gravestone. Here is an example I have not seen before. It depicts an adult hand holding that of a child. Richard Henry, beloved son of Richard Graveson and Mary Evans who died, aged 7 years and 3 months who died on 22 May, 1890.

ReplyDeleteIn your header, why do they call it "graveyard rabbits"? I LOVE your photography and what you choose to display here. In northern Michigan there are two family cemeteries on the same road though miles apart, one has both sides of my mother's family and the other has both sides of my father's ... and they are very old and beautiful, with tall trees and breezes always seeming to blow through them. Here in SE Michigan where I live in the house my parents built in 1943, my folks are buried in a "modern" cemetery with flat to the ground headstones that you can only put live flowers in the built-in "vase" (holes in the bronze markers) There are some awesome bronze statues throughout the cemetery which I've photographed years ago but nothing like yours.
